Welcome to Mveledzo Day Hospital, where we prioritize your health and well-being above all else. Our state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to providing high-quality medical care in a safe, comfortable, and caring environment.
As an established family practitioner at the Thohoyandou NHC Health Centre, which opened in 2021, Dr. Tshivhase approached the holding company of the NHC Health Centres, Nimpa Ltd, with the vision of a private hospital in Thohoyandou. This led to discussions between the CEO of Nimpa Ltd, Mr. Hermann Kohloffel, and Dr. Tshivhase. This collaboration has resulted in the establishment of Mveledzo Day Hospital, which opened in early 2024. Built on the premises of the Thohoyandou NHC Health Centre, the hospital has 3 theatres and 27 beds offering same-day surgery, attracting renowned surgeons and specialists from the Northern Limpopo area.
Same-day surgery is not only a cost-effective alternative but is less emotionally distressing, particularly for children. The nursing staff pride themselves on reassuring anxious patients about to undergo the nerve-racking experience of surgery and then assisting them through the recovery process. Included in the three theatres is a laminar flow theatre, which is supplemented by 1, 2, and 4-bed luxury wards. The Mveledzo Day Hospital is conveniently situated on the same premises as the NHC Health Centre, next to Thavhani Mall and in close proximity to the CBD. With ample parking, one can enter and leave the premises with ease. Mveledzo Day Hospital is a member of the Day Hospital Association of Southern Africa and the National Hospital Network.
Mveledzo Day Hospital is committed to care excellence, championing patient-centred services, and ensuring collaboration among healthcare professionals resulting in elevated healthcare outcomes.
As a multipurpose, one-size-fits-all facility, Mveledzo Day Hospital offers a comprehensive range of medical services that include outpatient procedures, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and specialist consultations.

The Brand “Mveledzo” Day Hospital and its Symbol and meaning. The word ‘Mveledzo’ pronounced “mm vel led zor” means success in Venda, aptly progress. At first glance the Mveledzo symbol is very strong in presence. The actual symbol stated with 4 M’s being placed facing outwards in 4 directions North South East and West. From that a pattern emerged which for us in the health care landscape represented not only our outward focus on all the communities that we serve but perhaps as importantly the interlinked nature of the health care delivery process, illustrating that we as health care professionals are interdependent on each other to achieve only the best outcomes for all our patients.
The cross that emerged in the middle of the Mveledzo symbol highlights the traditional approach within this modern world that health care finds itself in and its ever-evolving nature both of technology and illness we navigate each and everyday The symbol shows interconnectedness, which demonstrates the entrepreneurial spirit that characterises the entities in the Mveledzo family, we view interdependence as a critical success factor in our target markets. The symbol also bears a compass resemblance, this is significant of our intentional poise to emerging markets The weave that’s created from interlinking the brand fits in strongly with the native weave that originates from the area in which the founders started the Mveledzo Hospital group and its strong alignment and inclusion of all South Africans in its heritage. The Mveledzo symbol forms the foundation of what will in future become a successful inclusive community-based hospital group in the African Hospital sector.
